CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION

About UsContact Us

Having a baby is a life-changing experience, and it can be both overwhelming and exhilarating. Oftentimes to help relieve the anxiety in preparing for the birth, it is beneficial to enroll in childbirth education classes. These are wonderful opportunities to learn about the birthing process, the ability of your body, and to be around others who are going through the same journey with you.

Birth education classes help build your confidence in your body’s ability to give birth, give you the opportunity to discuss your concerns about labor with a like-minded community of mothers and instructors, allow your partner to learn about childbirth and to know best how to support you on your big day. You can learn about pain relief strategies and go on a tour of the center.

At Beginnings Birth Center, we are happy to offer many childbirth education class options. We offer classes on labor and birth as well as on infant care including breastfeeding. We teach our classes on-site at the center and we have staff that oversees our classes. We look forward to getting to know you, educating and preparing you, and walking with you on your miraculous journey!

Labor & Birth Classes

Birth classes are required for everyone expecting a first baby and also for anyone planning their first birth without medication. We offer a variety of classes so that you’re able to choose the class that speaks to you and your partner most.

Hypnobabies

Hypnobabies is a very successful 6 week, 3-hours per week, complete childbirth education course that was adapted with permission from Master Hypnotherapist Gerald Kein’s “Painless Childbirth Program” techniques rather than using simple relaxation, breathing or guided imagery. This allows our Hypno-Moms to enjoy “eyes-open childbirth hypnosis”, easily remaining deeply in hypnosis while walking, talking and changing positions; being as mobile as they would like to be during childbirth. Hypnobabies is well-known for helping women to create much shorter, easier and more comfortable labors, making childbirth the joyful experience it was meant to be. Hypnobabies is a successful, proven Hypnotic Method of childbirth where parents easily and naturally prepare for the birth by using real medical hypnosis techniques.

Westside Birth Connection Childbirth Prep Class

Candace McCollett created and teaches this comprehensive 8-session class (2 hours each session). Candace’s has extensive experience as a birth doula, certified lactation educator, and midwife assistant. She describes her classes on her website, “I provide informative, interactive, confidence-building classes that leave parents with the feeling of trust in the child birthing process. The classes are eclectic in nature, pulling information from independent resources such as Dr. Robert Bradley, Lamaze Institute for Normal Birth, author Sheila Kitzinger and midwife Ina May Gaskin. We focus on breathing techniques and many different comfort techniques that I have learned from my experience attending births as a doula, both in the hospital setting and the home setting.”

Breast Feeding Classes

Breast milk is produced naturally by women and provides nutrition for baby during the first several months to years of their life. Breastfeeding is valuable for both the mother and baby. Breastfeeding classes are beneficial to those considering breastfeeding to detail the keys to successful breastfeeding and some of the pitfalls to avoid. We also address breastfeeding expectations and concerns, strategies for success, nursing positions, diet considerations and many other topics.

Infant Newborn Care Class

In addition to preparing for the labor and delivery of your baby, what lies beyond is also an important consideration. We’re here to help you welcome your baby with open arms! Learn about diapers and how to check them. Lean to ensure the health of your baby. Understand how to thrive in the first few weeks. Learn how to deal with crying and how to calm your baby. Other others topics include bathing, feeding, swaddling, and sleep. This is also a great time for parents and grandparents.

Baby Lead Weaning Classes

Our relationship with food shapes so much about our health including our physical fitness, resilience to illness, and our emotional wellbeing. Start your baby off on the right step by establishing the correct habits with Baby Led Weaning. This is the process of letting your child choose which foods they wish to eat. Instead of spoon feeding your baby mush, they have the opportunity to differentiate between other types of foods. This can be a very beneficial process because it helps you identify which foods your baby likes and dislikes. Topics include, when your baby is ready, how to safely start your newborn on solids, interpreting the signs, and more.

Baby Wearing Classes

Babywearing is an ancient practice of carrying or wearing a baby close to you in a pack, sling, wrap or another form. This bonding experience keeps you and your child close and connected as you engage in daily activities. Though a traditional practice, it is not frequently used by modern industrialized societies; regardless, the benefits are plentiful for the child and parent. Babywearing promotes bonding, supports breastfeeding, helps with postpartum depression, and is especially beneficial for parents with high needs children. Our instructors will educate and guide you in the best practices for you and your child.
