If you’ve ever been to the emergency room, you might remember feeling frustrated after hours of waiting for an eventual 7 minute visit with a doctor who, several weeks later, sends you an $800 bill. Emergency rooms treat the sickest patients first before for moving on to the less serious cases (a practice known as ‘Triage’), and often times patients with minor, but urgent, conditions are left waiting. Examples of such conditions include minor cuts needing stitches, headache, cold, flu, sprains, minor broken bones (fingers or toes), skin rashes, ear aches, eye redness, sore throats, vomiting, diarrhea, and coughs.
Fortunately, urgent care is a great alternative to the emergency room, if you happen to have a non-life threatening condition. An urgent care clinic (also called a ‘walk-in’ clinic) is focused on providing medical care in health facility outside of an emergency room. As a result, urgent care centers are available to treat non-life threatening injuries or illnesses that require prompt care.
For comprehensive prenatal care, home births, water births, natural births, education, preventative care, and holistic well-woman care, contact Jolene, a Colorado Springs Midwife, at Springs Midwifery & Women’s Care, LLC.
