BIRTHING FROM A DISTANCE: HOW WE MAKE IT WORK

BIRTHING FROM A DISTANCE: HOW WE MAKE IT WORK

Beginnings Birth Center - Untitled Design 15

You live in Denver. Or Pueblo. Or somewhere farther away, or in between. And you’ve found Beginnings Birth Center online. But then the question hits: Can I really birth here if I don’t live in Colorado Springs?

The answer is yes. And honestly, it feels less like a distance and more like a partnership.

We designed our care model to support families from near and far. Here’s how it works:

Early Pregnancy & Planning
From the moment you start care with us, you’re not alone. We have many ways to stay connected, telehealth appointments, a client portal, texting for anytime questions, and a dedicated app for labor that connects you to the on-call midwife. Your midwives aren’t just seeing you at appointments. We are accessible. You feel supported at all times, even if you’re hours away.

The Big Day
When labor starts, you’ll be in communication with your midwife through our special dedicated app. You’re texting, you’re sharing what’s happening, and she’s helping you navigate. Together, you’ll figure out when it makes sense to head to Colorado Springs. There’s no guessing. There’s no panic. When it’s time, you and your support team (partner, doula, whoever’s coming with you) head toward us. There are many hotels close to the birth center—usually just 10-15 minutes away. You have someone who knows you, understands your labor, and is guiding you every step of the way
Why does this matter? Because early labor is vulnerable. You want to be close. You want to move, walk, breathe, be supported. Your doula can be right there with you, helping you cope and position. Your partner can rest between contractions. You’re in a safe place, settled, and ready with a plan. And your midwife? She’s ready to welcome you to the birth center when you and labor say it’s time.

After baby arrives, you’re pampered, fed, and supported for a few hours post birth. When you and baby are ready you’ll head back to your hotel for the first night postpartum. You rest. You recover. You bond with your baby in your own space. Then, the morning after(ish), you come back to the birth center for your 24-hour postpartum appointment. Your midwife checks in with baby. You make sure everything is healing well. And then you head home.

It’s seamless. It’s personal. It works.

But here’s the real reason families make this journey from Denver and beyond:
Because some things are worth traveling for. A better birth is one of them.

When you choose midwifery-led care at a birth center, you’re choosing something fundamentally different. You’re choosing continuity. You’re choosing a provider who knows your name, your story, your hopes for birth. You’re choosing to labor in a space designed for birth, not medical intervention. You’re choosing to trust your body. And families come from hours away because they know that choice matters.

They come because they’ve researched. They’ve read the outcomes. They’ve seen the difference between a hospital birth and a birth center birth. They’ve felt what it’s like to have a midwife who’s invested in THEIR birth.

They come because it’s worth it.
They bring their doulas and their partners and their vision for birth. They settle into a hotel. They labor. They birth. And then they go home with a story that changes them. We’ve even had families move away, to other states, for military assignments, for work and then come back to Colorado Springs to have their next baby with us. That tells you something about what happens here.

One mom from Denver told us: “I drove an hour because I knew this was the only place that would honor my body the way I needed. It was the best decision I made.”

Another said: “I didn’t think I could birth without an epidural. My midwife believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I drove back to Colorado Springs for that.”

THE LOGISTICS ARE SIMPLE. THE EXPERIENCE IS PROFOUND.

You don’t have to live here to birth here. You just have to be willing to invest in the birth you actually want.

If you’re reading this from Denver, from Pueblo, from anywhere outside of Colorado Springs, and something in your gut is saying “this feels right”, reach out. Let’s talk about what’s possible.

We’ve supported families from all over. We know how to make it work. And we’re honored every single time someone chooses to travel here for their birth.
